| er no, just a realist. our FA are rubbing their hands together at the prospect of some money-spinning friendly somewhere abroad.
we have nothing to gain from taking part in this. </BLOCKQUOTE>
Which gives you the right to besmirch other countries teams? </BLOCKQUOTE>
besmirch based on the seedings from the other day, you're in UEFA's fourth pot. you wouldn't expect us to play a friendly against Cyprus or Moldova because we wouldn't expect to gain anything much from it. why should we waste time playing you just because you're next door?

you used the word "tin-pot". Rather a derogatory comment. Don't see how you can say that in all seriousness to be totally honest.
We're a country with a population of under 3 million. Your country is one of over 50 million. Of course there should be a massive gulf in terms of quality. However, i'd rather not be lectured on quality of football from a supporter of a fellow non qualifying nation for the European Championships.

Why are we a Home Nation?
The downside of this comp is having to play those Northern mentalists, can think of nothing worse than playing up in that shithole. Plus considering a competitive international against Wales drew 25,000 a couple of weeks ago, will there really be a huge interest in this? Can't see it becoming a football equivalent of Six Nations somehow.

Somebody give Rob a Shetland pony because he doesn't deserve a Shire pony after England's recent results.

Heh the reasons why it finished: Quote: |
The British Home Championship was discontinued after the 1983-1984 competition. There were a number of reasons for the tournament's demise, including it being overshadowed by the World Cup and European Championships, falling attendances at all but the England v Scotland games, fixture congestion, the rise of hooliganism, the Troubles in Northern Ireland (civil unrest led to the 1980-1981 competition being abandoned), and England's desire to play against 'stronger' teams. The fate of the competition was settled when the (English) Football Association, swiftly followed by the Scottish Football Association, announced in 1983 that they would not be entering after the 1983-1984 Championship
| Ironically Northern Ireland won the last one.
