The Raconteurs's album is just full of good old rock songs. That album is a good way of getting back into the rock mood. There are a couple of stand out tracks on there too.

If you like Led Zeppelin, give Wolfmother a try. Their album is one of my favourites this year, a few people like them on OTF iirc. Some absolutely massive tunes on there.

Opinion is divided on The Long Blondes. I think the album is great but some don't like it.

If you like a bit of alternative, iForward, Russia! is your first port of call. They're fffffb. Guillemots are very good.

Some other general bands I'm liking this year in the genre: The Fratellis, Dirty Pretty Things, We Are Scientists.

Avoid Razorlight, The Klaxons, The Horrors and Jet

forward russia basically one of my favourite live gigs I think along with Gogol Bordello, and the Subways I think.

Long Blondes are pretty good, not heard much fratellis or giant drag though... need to myspace them pronto then.

Thanks guys. The Raconteurs and Wolfmother are two bands I've heard a little of and liked- so will check them out. The Fratellis too- cheers.
