For any Pulp fans, Jarvis Cocker's album is out next week, it's quite good

Pigeon Detectives \o/

There's a good chance a new Arctic Monkeys album will be out early next year too.

Last I heard they've been in the studio for over a month recording new material, they said they already had 15+ songs written. I recall Alex saying they would like to release it a year to the day the first album was released, so towards the end of January. Will be interesting to how they fare because nobody will have heard any of the new stuff until they release a single, unlike the demo situation of last time.

yeah i think that album release last time was a bit of a farce. i had heard all of those songs on demo anyway about 2 years before and most of them sounded better on beneath the boardwalk anyway.

Tbf to them, they said they wanted a record of what was happening at that time which was why the re-recorded all the demos and didn't put any 'new' songs on the first album. I agree with that decision in truth although I agree with you that some of the demos actually sounded better than the finished songs.

I saw them at the beginning of February on the NME tour in Liverpool with WAS and Maximo Park, they were really good that night too. They need more of a stage presence imo but the songs they have are good enough to make it a brilliant gig. Met benkeat that night too iirc.

You saw them at Leeds yeah?

i saw them on the NME tour too but in Newcastle. they were brilliant. was right at the front too. also Alex said my bird was hot due to her red adidas top \o/ claim to fame indeed

saw them at leeds too but there were too many chavs there to enjoy it.

you heard the lineup for the NME this time. i heard sunshine underground and klaxons are the 2 'less known' bands. the headliner will be announced soon

They're okay, but no more than that.

LArrikin Love really impressed me when I heard that album the other day though

Tell me about cats and cats and cats, and Giant Drag Tony?

Jeffrey Lewis and McLusky
Well "Cats and cats and cats" are more of a post-rock band, remind me a bit of 65dos as well. Great album.

Giant Drag, remind be greatly of poppier version My Bloody Valentine. I got their EP and album imported about a year ago, but its out in the UK now. Great live as well.

I'm seeing Jack Lewis playing solo tomorrow night, should be good. The full band are touring next month as well.

And well McLusky

Will definitely check out Giant Drag from that description. Cheers.

Jarvis' album a bit of a disappointment tbh. His voice isn't strong enough to carry the songs that he's written.
