My thoughts on the pilot/first episode: Ok, it's not been very well received by the critics, and I'm hugely biased as I'm a fan of the awesomeness that is Kevin McKidd, but I loved this, really loved it. It was well contained inside the 45 minutes, telling a singular story, laying the foundations for a much longer gradual arc, and introducing us to the main cast. The camera was a little annoying at times, especially any time he "shifted", although the last one was a pretty cool effect. All in all, can't wait to see more of this, and it looks a shrewd acquisition for Sky One, their only one from the LA screenings earlier this year.
The stuff with Katie especially could be something to grow and grow, along with his dilemma of missing stuff with his "current" family, although it was good writing that he involve the wife so early on, as trying to hide it from her and dragging that whole storyline out, while perhaps popular nowadays, is just plain annoying.
With the slot right after Heroes it stands a good chance of attracting a strong following in the first few vital weeks, to make sure they actually stick with it for at least a season. High hopes for this, especially because it keeps Kevin McKidd on our screens.
In slightly related news, spotted that McKidds partner from Rome, Ray Stevenson, has won the role of The Punisher in the new movie. Undecided if that's a bad thing or not, since Punisher movies have tended to suck.

Just watched it, was pretty good overall, and I'll check out the next few episodes.
That said, it didn't really feel like it was anything new. You just know down the line that there'll be an episode where he does miss his sons recital or baseball game and he's going to fall out with him, and it's going to feel really tired and worn. But you never know, his wife believed him in the first episode, so they might be deliberately avoiding re-treading those areas.
Will be interesting to see if he ever drives a car again, as if he's responsible, he really shouldn't.

Recorded this last night along with Chuck and just watched them. From reading the plot it seemed ok but I was a bit worried that it would just be a updated Quantum Leap with the usual expected stuff like what Slightly Damp Shrew said. But it looks like they're hopefully going to be making a effort to avoid that.
Establishing in the first episode that his wife believes him was a good move. Far better that than the usual story of the main character having all these weird experiences but nobody believes him. That's been done numerous times already and gets boring really quickly.
Also like the little twist that Livia survived the plane crash and is also leaping through time, yet she seems to know or at least have an idea as to why it's happening. Hopefully the fact that she's already alive will stop it from just being a whole season of him trying to pick between his present day wife or saving his ex.

I'm curious, was the sound terrible for any of you? I just watched it and the background noise (traffic, music) was at times overpowering the dialogue. Apart from that, it was an enjoyable introduction to the show.

So this is basically a mixture of Quantum Leap and Family Man? I'll still watch it though seeing as there is absolutely **** all worth watching these days. Damn money and ratings obsessed network execs have ruined creative television.

Yes. Normally when i see someone like that i at least know i've seen them before, even if i can't figure out where, but i didn't really get that with him when i watched Rome.
I blame his hair in Trainspotting.
