The problem with America is that Americans DO have a point when they say it is the best country in the world
| So do Brits, French, Spanish, Dutch etc...
I always regard nationalism as a joke, though. What's it say about me if some Dutch are amongst the cleverest traders in the world? Nothing at all. Too bad for me. But at the same time I'm not taking on the world for cursing some Dutch who amongst the most rude people in the world. Because I know I'm not amongst those.

Every country is patriotic. you'll hear people from England/Spain/Mali... claim that their country is the best in the world all the time but nobody cares and hates the Brits because they are patriotic. The problem with America is that Americans DO have a point when they say it is the best country in the world and the most powerfull and blabla and I think that jealousy (sp?) is more of a reason for foreigners hating America than patriotism is.

Suppose we'd view 'the USA' in a bad light because of the fact that it produced AJ, that would be quite unfair on them.

Every country has a point in claiming it is the best in the world but the one that most people would vote for (if you couldn't vote for your own country) would be America most likely and I added "most powerfull" to my sentence making America the only choice if you include political or economical or military power, hence my jealousy argument.

There's essentially no difference between quality of life in western europe and the rest of the developed world and quality of life in the US. The days when the US was a beacon of hope that we all yearned to live in are over meitheisman.
Fwiw, I like America. Most people do.
