I'm at Vandy.
and independence means distancing from one's family, at least generally.

| I think its due to several factors
1. America sticking their nose in other countries business in the last 20 years with bad results, ie Saddam etc etc
2.Jealousy
3.Patriotism

| This comes from two sides: people who hate Bush/ultraconservative eedjits/corporate puppets do not automatically hate the USA, yet are automatically thrown into one bucket with those who blindly hate 'the great satan' because of whatever sweeping reasons they have. It's a black and white world these days :thdn:

| Daaaaave has a point here.
Also, I'll disagree with the too patriotic argument. Every country is patriotic. you'll hear people from England/Spain/Mali... claim that their country is the best in the world all the time but nobody cares and hates the Brits because they are patriotic. The problem with America is that Americans DO have a point when they say it is the best country in the world and the most powerfull and blabla and I think that jealousy (sp?) is more of a reason for foreigners hating America than patriotism is.
