yeah what everyone with an ipod said really. I call my ipod an ipod, becuase it is an ipod.
you sound a bit bitter that you don't have an ipod tbh.

An iPod is an mp3 player - all mp3 players that aren't iPod's are branded 'mp3 players', except the iPod - that's my point. I'm just wondering why the iPod gets special treatment.
Other mp3 players do exactly the same as the iPod, yet they don't get the special brand mention.
And the PSP/Wii remarks are stupid, there isn't a market replica of a Wii or a PSP in the same way as a Sony Walkman or Creative Zen are to the iPod.

I call mine my MP3 or my creative. If I had an Ipod I'm sure I'd call it my MP3 or my Ipod.

| not really the same as that, as as far as i'm aware people dont tend to call non-ipods 'ipods'? maybe similar to dysons, which often get refered to as 'dyson' instead of vacuum cleaner, but other vacuums don't

| Because Apple have a better marketing department? Ipod has become a cultrual thing, everyone knows what it is and what it meas, its not different from 'walkman' and 'discman' in the eigthies/ninties.

my main point being, if you can be more specific about what it is easily why not be? everyone knows what an ipod is, so you can call it an ipod and everyone knows what you are on about. all the other mp3 player brans you cant do this with, so a general term has to be used so people know without you spending ages explaining what it is
