bit extreme but its just an example. Who really picks the team?
I dont think anyone would go that far tbh I mean what kind of manager would even take a role like that?

I'm with Mikey, I've always wondered why the manager doesnt have to be english as well.

I would love to have Capello it's just there will be this little nagging feeling that we're getting an upper hand for being rich

i'm trying to work out if this is a trick question.

don't buy this 'we've got rubbish technique' line either. it's very valid when talking about the academy system but i don't see the current England side/squad as particularly lacking in technique at all. a front six of Beckham, Gerrard, Hargreaves, Cole, Rooney and Owen is more than technically sound.

they're not going to be able to get Capello though are they? More money the country has then the better coach and players they could potentially buy. That's why i would rather have everything just one nationality.

yeah but if you get a top class Albanian coach he'll go off and manager a european club side rather than Albania anyway, because they can't afford him. Whilst in the mean time you're preventing them from getting average foreign coaches in who would help their national team improve quite a lot. How many African teams have home grown managers? While these countries catch up they will need to bring in foreigners in the short term as they don't have the expertise domestically, same as in any industry.

I do understand the point though that's it's a competition of nation v nation, and if we need an Italian coach to beat Italy, then we can't really gloat over them can we? but then again patriotism isn't exactly the most enlightened emotion anyway so who cares. DWPN

Beckham who I can't see being at the 2010 WC and Owen who you can't rely on being there either, so of that lot Rooney, Gerrard and Hargreaves yeah, like I said about Cole good technique but nothing special. So as a squad and players to call upon you're left like I said earlier with a few great players and alot of average ones
