Motorcyclists - what are your views? And do you drive one?
Inspired by the constant media campaign for us to “look out for motorbikes” coupled with a little experience I had with one last weekend.
Was driving up the A21 on my way home from Hastings, traffic reasonably busy as you’d expect, when out of nowhere this motorcyclist zoomed passed me and the rest of the traffic. We were going round a corner so had no chance of seeing him and if I’d edged a few inches closer to the white line in the middle of the road I could have easily knocked him over.
Anyway, I just basically call him a twat and carry on. About 10 mins later things grind to a halt and I see police cars ahead diverting traffic off the road. Turns out Mr Motorcyclist had just had a collision with a lorry and was sprawled across the road waiting for an ambulance to take him to hospital. Now I didn’t see the accident so don’t know who was at fault, but given my experience with said cyclist a few minutes earlier I couldn’t help driving past with a big smug serves you right grin on my face.
So whats everyone opinions on motorcyclists? Personally ive had far too many experiences like the one above to like them. When I see them driving around like a tit without a care for anyone except themselves I find myself unable to have any sympathy for them. Just yesterday lunchtime I saw one doing what must have been 50mph+ done the local high street ffs. I just looked at him and went “hope you crash *******”.
Does that make me a bad man?

Same as anything else really, the idiotic minority give the rest a bad image. Most of the time when motorcycles are being ridden sensibly you don't notice them. But when you get some Toseland wannabee with an insanely small penis making up for the fact that he shuffles numbers around an excel document for a living by driving his BIG! LOUD! motorbike around the place as recklessly as possible to bring some excitement into his life its pretty hard to miss and overrides all the decent bikers out there.

We had a kid come off his moped a few weeks ago at the top of my road. Only saw the aftermath as I was waling up to the pub, but the scene was like this...

__________________________________________________ ____ ¦--¦ O O _¦Hit here->¦ ¦ o--o <-about 30 yards-> POOL OF O--O BLOOD CAR BIKE______________________________________________ ________

Just walked past and muttered "silly twat"

i used to paly football with a guy, who was also dating a friend, who died in ourt village on his bike. think he might have hit a car then gone into a lamppost or something.
anyway, motorbikes are quite good i think, much more economical and enviromental. small minority absolute idiots on them though.

Is it the small minority though? From past experience id say at least half if not more of the motorcyclists ive seen have been driving like twazzocks. And i dont buy this "if the motorcyclist is driving properly you wont notice them" either. Of course you notice them, id seriously question my own safety as a driver if i didnt.

Bikes are cool, totally exciting experience but I would never drive one a motorway.
It's just too dangerous even if you are a responsible rider, One on one in an accident you always lose no matter who's at fault.
I ride a bicycle to work and notice how people on cars never notice nor slow down much less stop on intersections for you, I even had a drive cut in front of me to go in a shopping centre and I had to hit the brakes to avoid crashing with the twat!
It dangerous enough with icy streets without having to worry about stupid drivers or pedestrians so no.... going on 2 wheels is not very safe, and with an engine it's even more dangerous, period.
