I didn't see the incident, but I'd say it depends heavily on context. I can see the word N|gger being used in a hiphop thread without being meant as an insult, for example.

i saw the comment but don't want to repost it in case i get banned for spoilers. it was pretty stupid a thing to say, probably was worth a banning imo.

polack's ban was completely ridiculous, as is the not letting him back to him making an alias.

there's no reason for any OTFers to use the word "n***a," even in its 21st century meaning.
