Yeah, they did have an order for a whole second series and were quite confident going into it, but then it got scaled back to 13 episodes, and then to just 6, effectively cancelling it. I'll admit it wasn't "amazingly brilliant", but I still enjoyed it and they had some interesting plot developments that were just getting started.

Got to say Arrested Development. Ending felt rushed and it had so many more seasons in it imo.
Other shouts for Dead Like Me, Firefly (at least we got a film) and Wonderfalls.

firefly was great, and the film tied up a few loose ends, but they could quite easily make a second series for it.

| I didnt realise they cut it back as much as that. I remember seeing a few episodes with Priestley in them and then it just stopped :/

No new ones apart from some of the ones mentioned.
Firefly didn’t make it to the end of a full season. Was cut at the half way point through the first season. Out of every show cancelled this is the one I’d like to see back the most.
American Gothic was great. Haven’t a clue why it was cancelled, but I remember it having a small following so perhaps the audience figures weren’t big enough.
Drop the Dead Donkey had probably overran. It used to be one of my favourite comedies but the last series just wasn’t up to the previous ones.
I thought Quantum Leap had a good run and a good ending. Not sure how people could think it didn’t finish.
Angel was axed prematurely and as a result the final episodes just didn’t fit. They were busy building up storylines for characters and even bringing new people into the show (kind of) then to just throw in a silly plot that didn’t even make sense and was completely out of place with the series made no sense.
Buffy had a very good run and probably ended at the right time. I thought the last episode pretty much wrapped everything up.
Never saw the last episode of Dungons and Dragons, if it even existed. The one where they go home is when Venger follows them but their weapons won’t work so they realise they have to go back for their weapons to work to defeat Venger. There were several other near misses as well, although I can take comfort that the annoying little sh!t Bobby never made it home.
Red Dwarf never ended, but the last two series were pretty poor, so it was probably best to end before they did any more damage.
The Pretender never ended either which I used to enjoy. Think there was a film which may or may not have tied things up but I never saw it.

Forgot to mention Spitting Image. Would be awesome now if they were allowed to use the same humour.

| Yea they didn't even air all episodes made. Released the last 3 or so on their website IIRC.
