Haw fellas and ladies (hello Nixchatabox), I finally joined my local gym today, £28.50 a month, got an induction on Monday I am to do the following
Mon-Fri - 08.30-10.30
Sat/Sun - 10.00-12.00*
Obviously depends on matchday, I want to work on Cardio at first, treadmills/cycling/rowing, I get free use of the Sauna as well \o/ that'll help my skin . My target is to run the London Marathon in 2008, christ if Bagpuss can do it then I sure as sh!te can.
So OTF, tell me about your regime and stuff and some tips I can use
They'll give you a personalised routine at your induction if its a decent place. And going every day isn't the best thing, your muscles need to time inbetween workouts to recover.
So you'd suggest one day on and one day off? Aye the fella did say I'd get my own plan and stuff, bought some shorts/tshirts and some cheap trainers as well. Looking forward to it \o/
you can go to the gym every day if you wish. as long as your not weight training the same muscles in a row.
i believe you can do cardio every day of the week. obviously there will come a time when you get tired but i don't think it works the muscles that much that you will get degredation of the muscles.
I went for the first time in ages today, nearly killed me but I want to join a Sunday League team that a couple of mates play for, and at the moment I'd just embarrass myself cos I'm so unfit!
Yeah, Cardio you can do every day. It's only with more intense workouts that focus on specific muscles that every other day is recommended.
To be honest, I don't know much past the basics. I moved into an apartment complex in February that has a gym and a pool that are free to use, so I tend to do about 90 minutes of cardio (bike/treadmill/swimming) six mornings out of seven. It's been great for my overall level of fitness, and I've lost nearly forty pounds in the last six months. Not really interested in being a full on gym-monkey, though. Too much like hard work.
