Hey all, I was hoping someone out there would be able to help me about this probably i have beening working on it all day have done it many times over but to no results, i was wondering if there was anyone that could help me slice my photoshop image, i have my a webpage and now i need to slice it up to import into Dreamweaver. but i just cant work it out, its not hard, well its atucally really simple but its just i have no knowleadge of slicing so any help would be excellent i have a photo of my desgin but im not on the right computer so i will edit it and upload when on the right computer, thank you it will be excellent if anyone can help.

Softz - Most of our members can help but its more efficient if you tell us exactly where you are getting stuck. For example I can't tell if its the actual slicing that is hanging you up or if its importing into Dreamweaver.

If it's slicing, it can be accomplished one of two ways, either manual or automatic, where is the sticky point for you?

If its importing let us know where it becomes a problem.

I believe it's slicing Joy.

In the toolbar at the topright Softz you'll see what looks to be a small knife icon. That's for slicing. In that same mini-flyout menu you'll also find a similar tool but that's for selecting specific slices after they're created. You select slices but simply clicking on them with that tool.

To use the slice tool you just have to treat it like the rectangular selection tool. The difference is that you need to be very precise/specific about where you click and start to drag this tool. Because as soon as you start to drag out a selection area, it will create a virtual slice within your canvas area.
If you make a mistake drawing out your slice section, just right-click on the slice and choose "Delete Slice" from the menu.

If you decide at any time you want to do all your slices over again, look under the VIEW menu at the bottom. You'll find an option called "Clear Slices". Also within the VIEW menu is an option to hide your slices. This can also be done using Ctrl+H; but that shortcut will also hide other things too.

I suggest you just open a dummy document Softz and play with those tools to get a feel for them. Slicing isn't difficult at all. I'm sure you'll cvatch on to it quite quickly. [righton]

Hey Thanks for the input guys, it wasnt the slicing tools i was having trouble with it was the actual slicing to make the main boxes expandable, but after many many many atemps i finally mangered to work it out,

Softz - Glad to hear that - thanks for reporting back - You know solving it yourself is really the best way to learn! I always like to help people (if I can) with a specific problem- mainly cause it shows they are actively working on the solution and will therefore remember the fix! You did good.
