In short, an absoloutely atrocious decision.

McLeish to Birmingham.
McClaren to Derby.
Davies to Scotland.

Yep, they're just the same as we were, came up well too early, should give it a go but really it's just a season to gain experience, add a few premiership players to the squad and get lots of money to rebuild next season, pretty much what we are doing although we haven't really strengthened the squad which is strange to me.

They've got a good fan base, good ground and a good manager who took over a struggling Championship side and got them promoted, he should be praised for where they are not be sacked.

Because he's the reason we're here in the first place.
Watford stuck by Boothroyd (as has been mentioned) and it's the same situation with us. </BLOCKQUOTE>

I'm in no way saying it's the right choice. Just that you can kind of see their reason if they assume they're being relegated anyway.

so that's Derby who follow Wigan and Bolton in sacking their manager the day after a defeat by Chelsea. Harsh.

It would be a bad decision, but there's no point saying its a joke.

ok he set up a 3 year plan to get in the Prem, and he achieved it in his 1st year, well done to him for that. The point of that plan however, was to allow him to gain more experience with the Derby players and better players. He's never managed Prem before, he did well with Preston, and Derby, but he himself just is not ready for the top league. There's no point the Derby board saying "well he got us up 2 years early lets let him take us down and try again", they should do everything in their power to keep Derby up, even if that means dispensing with the man he worked miracles last year. A club's board aren't loyal to the manager, but to the team.

They aren't staying up, so they should look at Watford rather than panicking. Awful decision.

without a massive overhaul of the players though is any manager going to keep Derby up ? It depends who is out there that will take over that is better anyway

Maybe they are looking at Watford? Davies was the one asking for money to keep them up.

Not sure what he was asking for when he hasn't spoken to the board for three weeks.
