Derby not only sacked Davies, they put the bullet in his back-room staff, too.
According to The Guardian, only one Premier League manager lost his job in 2006/07 (Iain Dowie at Charlton). A big change this season!
Dowie, Reed who replaced him, Jewell left, as did Warnock, Pardew also sacked, Coleman was sacked, Roeder given th bullet, so I think this season is following suit.
And Alan Pardew (off the top of my head) - although he did find another job as a Premier manager. </BLOCKQUOTE>

yeah, bizarre decision by Jewell imo, Derby not got a great deal more potential than Wigan. Like you, wouldve though the Boro job, which must surely be availablöe soon, would be a better match for him. Not really a forward step in his career this.

Yes, odd about Jewell, read 1.5 million and only half if they go down (750K it is then). Taking this but counted himself out of the Bolton job (i am sure there have been others as well)

Dunno, maybe he didn't fancy going back to Wigan, thinking that he could only do worse than before, and maybe he doesn't think he could work with Gartside at Bolton? There could be lots of reasons.

I thought with Gartside generally having a record of giving managers a chance Jewell would have made sense to bring in. Can understand not going back to Wigan but a friend of mine coordinates ex-players coming out to Dubai to do pundit work for Dubai and Singapore (broadcast from here) and he takes them golfing, out for a few beers and there is one thing they like to do is gossip Anyway, he told me Jewell wouldnt take the Wigan job, seemed to be enjoying his break from football apparently and the way he brushed off apparent Ireland speculation and Wigan made me feel he might be out a bit longer than this :/

Wow. Never thought we would get Jewell tbh, reckon he if anyone gives us a chance of staying up now once he sorts out the back room staff, but I wouldn't be surprised if he can't turn ir around as it is a tough job.
Reckon Pearson must have already had talks with Jewell to sign him so quick though and been confident he would sign.
