So I'm basically going to this next year, as part of my festival tour. I've got the dates and such from the website, but as a few of you went last year I was hoping to pick your brains for a plan of action. Some people were talking about getting to Barcelona and traveling from there, but I assume just trying to get direct is the way to go? Any hints/tips about general stuff?
I went last year and it was well worth it. If you are after a plan of action I would book the train tickets well in advance because you will have no chance of turning up and buying one. I flew to Barcelona the day before the festival and got a direct train there and back which was handy.
Let me know if i can help, i will probably be going again but this time I will be driving to save me the hassle.
Yea thats last years line up, wfffffffffb. Me and Stu (Arjen Robben) went with a couple of mates and it was awesome, think we're planning on going again this year.
We had a weekend in Barcelona and got the train down and back, travelling was a nightmare as we didn't book tickets and very nearly missed the train and had the most hellish crowded train back up to barca as well. So book train tickets is my main advice.
In terms of the actual festival itself there's three campsites, we got there nice and early to get in the one nearest to the actual festival site which I think was a wise move, the other ones seemed like they were absolutely miles away and given how we struggled to get to the arenas for the early acts despite being right next to it i'd imagine we'd have missed a lot of good bands if we'd been any further away.
The guys who were camping next to us were awesome and had this sort of mirrored blanket which they let us use, really made the tents a lot cooler which was a good thing as they got pretty unbearable after about 10am otherwise, have no idea where you'd get it from but it did a job.
The town itself is pretty good for getting grub and everything but take out pretty big chunks of money at a time as the ATM queues were ridiculous, it was a bit of a mission away from our campsite so keeping stocked up with water and essentials was a pain in the arse but obviously necessary. Get a lilo to sleep on as well, that was a good move I think.
