Aren't they just "space" blankets? If so you can get them for peanuts off ebay.

Quite possibly yea, he said they worked in a hospital and nicked em from there, but these space blankets could be the things.

I wanted to go this year, but fear of the heat stopped me. Probably just go Glasto in 2008, might go to Benicassim though.

| I'm really really rubbish with heat but I really didn't struggle that much tbh, got used to it after a while and the onsite showers were brilliantly refreshing when needed. Wouldn't let the heat put you off mate

I was like that, the heat took it out of me for a couple of days, you just need to drink loads of water all the time and laze around in the day which isn't too hard for me.

Yeah, heat not that much of an issue for me. tents pretty much a sauna at Isle of Wight this year due to the heatwave. As long as keep water near me it'll be fine.

Further to what Antpocalypse Now said...
1) You can get really cheap flights direct to Valencia on Jet2.com, so no need to go to Barcelona although it is rather nice. I went to Valencia, to Barcelona and back before the festival as I wanted to meet some friends, and had absolutely no trouble getting a train ticket.
2) Ditto the train from Benicassim to Valencia. As long as you book it even a day or two in advance, you'll be fine. We booked ours in the morning on the day we wanted to go, and the train was mid-afternoon.
3) The heat is absolutely ferocious, and tents are all but redundant. By FAR the best thing to do is to get a gazebo and lie under it on a lilo. You can buy all of that gubbins in Valencia or Benicassim itself, and leave it behind when you leave. Definitely do not take a tent, unless you want to wake up in intense discomfort at around 9.30 - 10 every morning, regardless of when you went to bed.
4) For the same reason, I found it was good to slip into a siesta-based sleep pattern. Sleep through the really ridiculously hot part of the day, be nice and fresh when it cools down. It might not be as bad next year, as last time was particularly hot even for Spain, but I doubt it'll be too chilly. I'm normally absolutely fine in heat but some days were just insane. As Antpocalypse said, don't let the heat put you off because it is very manageable.
5) Get to the festival early enough to get a campsite near to the arena. If you've foolishly brought a tent along, get there even earlier. Some parts of the campsite are covered, others have some tree cover, and you'd do VERY well to find a spot there.
6) Communal morning showers should be taken completely naked.
7) That was good advice about the ATM queues.
8) Drinks in the arena must be bought with expensive tokens. Befriend a couple of the bar staff and they'll charge you a few less. If you're not a beer swiller, take hipflasks and wear them anywhere but on your hip, because they'll pat you down on the way in.

Oh and there's a really good but hard to find jazz club in Valencia, if you spend a night or two there.
