I just don't get Pratchett, or any sci-fi and fantasy, for that matter. Life is vivd, colourful and interesting enough for me not to delve into fantasy.
Currently ploughing through Rand, am in a bit of a Marquez phase right now so I'll start on News of a Kidnapping once I'm done with Atlas Shrugged.
Drifting away from poetry to novels atm so whenever that spark is recaptured, yeah.

Reading Graham Swift's 'Waterland', very interesting and a nice narration, though sometimes it's hard to get to grips with all the mini-stories.
Want to read Hamlet by Shakespeare over the next couple of weeks as its tragicomedy might be useful for my dissertation. And can anyone reccomend any decent 'post-apocalyptic' novels, such as, Earth Abides, which is one name I've come accross.

heh, I'm actually about to start Robbie Fowlers autobiography.
Last book I read was Rooneys which was pretty dire.

| Lord of the Rings is great. I didn't particularly rate the films, they were good but not brilliant. The novels are fabulous though. It is a lengthy read but Tolkien keeps you gripped throughout, veen during parts which could quite easily have become dull. I didn't read The Hobbit beforehand so it's not an essential read before you start LOTR but if it's Tolkien it will be worth reading.
I'm reading Piers Morgan's book atm. it's okay, he comes across as a bit of a pretentious twat but it is interesting at least.
In terms of books I'm planning to read soon, I'm considering re-reading 'Paradise Lost'. Read the first 3 Books for A-Level English last year and always fancied reading the whole thing. Milton is a God. Keep trying to force myself to read some Dickens too. Tried to start 'Bleak House' quite a few times but struggle to stick with it. Would people recommend reading 'David Copperfield' first, as a way of getting into Dickens?

I'm reading War and Peace atm which I tried to read when I was younger and was obviously too stupid to appreciate it because it's a fantastic read. Read Candide by Voltaire before that which was enjoyable but seemed like a bit of a heavy handed way to make ceratin philosophical points.
Book before that was Flaubert's Parrot by Julian Barnes which as with all Julian Barnes books was just brilliant. Everyone should read his books.

I've always read The Mirror and it's interesting to see the thoughts behind what was going into the paper. He may be a twat but he was a strong editor.
