Oh excellent. A decent response.

Anyway atm i'm reading -

This Is Paradise! - Hyok Kang

It's a first hand account of the author and his upbringing in North Korea. Famine, public executions, blackouts etc etc. Pretty much what has always been rumoured but a first hand account of it.

Also on the "to read" pile

1984 - again
Northern Sky - Mark Radcliffe - yes, the same Mark Radcliffe of Mark and Lard fame.
A History of Britain - Simon Schama - 3 volumes. A daunting read.

I'm working my way through the Alan Furst books. If anybody hasn't heard of them they are literary-esque spy stories (not thrillers) all set before and/or during WWII. Good stuff.

Reading the Polish Officer at the moment, which isn't as good as his first two novels (The Night Soldiers and Dark Star).

Err, Martin Amis is a twat.

Apart from that, I'm not reading anything very worthy at the moment. Ultra dull course books and I'm dipping into John Foot's book "Calcio", which is about..yeah you can guess. It's quite good so far imo.

Yeah one of the best books i've ever read. I actually did my dissertation at uni on the works of Orwell.

All of his books are really easy to read. You could do them in a night or two.

Orwell's stuff is great. I've got a few of his that I haven't read sitting around actually. And 1984 is one of those books that you just have to read, brilliant stuff.

Many many times. simply out performs the films. could take quite a while to read i'd certainly recommend reading the hobbit first, although its more of a kids book, it's sets up the whole world in which LOTR is set.
