If I had £2000 when I was 16, and if I invested it properly I think I would have become a millionaire by now. I'm 35 btw.
If you want to be rich by 17, then you will most likely lose it all - or try and see a gap in the market.
A kid your age was the one who brought Motorised Scooters to Britain recently and became a millionaire. He could easily have lost it all though.
Its good to be a middle man. But you have to start slow. Do it via limited company. Dont risk your own assets.
