Hi, im looking to buy a newer car in the coming few months (now im working full time and will now actually have some money), im looking to spend 3-4k on a car, presently i have no idea what car to get so i am completely open to suggestions, only thing is that i want a small car .

suggest away please otf :thup: (for insurance purposes note that i am a 20 year old male with 2 years no claims, so please no 2.0 litre golf gti)

VW lupo 1.4tdi or Seat Arosa 1.4tdi around the 02/03 plate for that money. They are basically the same car, with 65mpg combined figure, £35 a year road tax and low insurance. Both have excellant build quality. The major catch is finding one, they are like hens teath. A good alternative would be a 51 plate Polo tdi.

I got a 2004 Fiesta for about £4k a couple of months ago, can't complain at all.

Have a read on Parkers or WhatCar. The thread I started when faced with a similar situation is knocking about here somewhere.

I'm enjoying my Citroen C2 at the moment. Got a 55 reg one with 18k on the clock for a little over £4k. The 1.1 seems nippy enough and it's Group 1 insurance if you're feeling particularly cheap

got a 1.1i saxo at the moment, don't fancy another tbh, not too keen on citroens tbh, poor build quality.

Exactly the car i have. I like it was my mums before and never had a problem. but if you crash you will die in them

completely agree, its been reliable *touch wood* just got a few niggly problems with it, then theres the fact its safer to crash in a cardboard box compared to it.
