Just received an interview from Uni of Manc, which I wasn't expected as I didn't think they did interviews....anywho what sort of questions do they ask? How can I prepare?
right ok - basically I figure that most people won't be preparing so if i can have an idea of what they are asking then I can at least know what is coming instead of being shocked into it, something I'd like to avoid.
It's pretty hard to be enthusiastic about your 5th choice uni though.....anything I can mention about the university/halls itself to sound impressive?
I had an interview for Computer Science at Manchester, yesterday, and they said after reading personal statements, they decide which people they want to make offers to, then invite all those to interviews. So basically you should (if Maths works the same as CS there) have an offer waiting, and they just wanna check you are who you say you are. They also said that if you don't quite make the offer that they made, then they use the interview as the basis to whether they still give you a place or not. The interview was very informal and more of a 15-20 minute chat that anything so don't get too worked up about it.
That's from my experiences with Computer Science btw, and I can only presume other departments at the same university use the same procedure
