I do maths at manchester, in my 3rd year now, and my interview was basically what people have said. Don't need to actually do any maths(iirc) and you'll definitely get an offer at the end of it.

I did maths at warwick, all my interviews were pretty much just formalities except for the Cambridge one. Unless things has changed since I was applying, if you get offered an interview that's pretty much the same as an offer.
Cambridge one was tricky though, got asked a load of proofs and mathematical puzzles. First one was 'prove that (n cubed - n) is always divisible by three'. That's the only one I remember, I got that and one other one that I'd happened to do for my GCSE project, couldn't do any of the others, didn't get an offer!

| Computer Science. Absolutely loved Manchester when I went the other day. I applied without visiting, and if I got an offer I was gonna go, but I got an interview which gave me chance to go look around and I just loved everything about it. It's definitely first choice so far, and out of the 5 I've applied to, there's only Warwick I've not been to.

What's Warwick like? I've applied there but I haven't vistsed it and i probably is one of the one's I'd like to go to. Cambridge is obviously the hardest to get into for maths, if anyone saw Bright Young Minds or something like that, those are the sort of people who get in. Been offered an interview at Oxford not that special but it's a start, so should probably get to doing some work but don't like the fact that it is a 3/4 day interview

Imperial and Warwick don't interview for Maths, although the latter I'm only 80% sure on. I certainly didn't get interviewed and Warwick had an 'Interview day' which made me **** myself and get the old textbooks out reading them on the way to Warwick only to find it was a 5 minute chat with a staff member, discussing if I like Warwick or not :S
For maths, Cambridge is undoubtedly top but Warwick is probably close behind with Imperial and Oxford either at the same level or a tiny bit behind. I liked Warwick's modern facilities, especially the brand new stats department but the whole farm thing was a bit meh. That's why I preferred Imperial but in terms of facilities, Warwick absolutely ****es all over Imperial's disgusting concrete abortion in the middle of South Kensington
Loser, what college you applied to? For maths right?

Only place I had a "proper" interview for Maths (out of Durham, Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds and Newcastle) was Durham. Asked me some stuff we hadn't even gone near in the A level further maths syllabus. I bumbled through it and was still offered ABB to get in.
Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool offered BBC just for turning up.
Newcastle offered EE for what was a glorified open day, with free food. So desparate.
I went to Leeds ofc.
I was advised not to apply for Cambridge as I wouldn't get the grades. Lying bastards.

I don't think Warwick interview, they just have 3 standard offers they give out. I've heard of people having offers from Warwick already and I've had an acknowledgment. I applied for trinity college at Ox for maths. I would have preferred Cambridge but honestly have got no chance of going there for maths.

The Step papers put me off applying for Cambridge so I went with Oxford. The interviews went horribly and it had a bloody bad effect on my confidence for a good while after.
Warwick give out offers to every single applicant that can make the grade requirements IIRC. The high requirements filter the candidates out come results day.
