He's been cast as Harvey Dent, not Two Face.
So you're looking probably at more likely a case of Batman battling the Joker in this movie, with them showing Dent as the the tough District Attorney trying to save Gotham.
Possibly with him becoming Two Face in this film or setting it up ready for him to become Two Face at the start of the next.
As always, with every superhero movie these days, I reserve judgment until release, as Hollywood seems so capable of screwing up pretty much any movie these days.
Bale is good as Wayne/Batman though, should make the movie watchable no matter what. As Gregg said, multiple villians sucks, but with a limited span of movies, don't be surprised to see more than one, although I doubt two-face, unless it's a small cameo at the end, ala Batman Begins with The Joker. Rise and fall of Harvey Dent this time round me thinks.
The thing is Gav, with Batman, i get very much a feeling of "in Nolan we trust". Same way as i trusted Singer to do well with the X-Men films. Didnt have that same feeling with Ratner. Of course, all faith in Singer was destroyed when he made Superman Returns.
I like that they have a definite story they want to tell over the course of the new series they have created. Sure Goyer isn't involved anymore on the screenplay side, but Nolan is still continuing with his initial vision.
If they stick to that, then i can see how different characters and villains could potentially work so long as they're done right.
For example, Nolan has nixed rumours of Oswald Cobblepot AKA The Penguin being in the film, however, if he were to make a minor appearance as some kind of arms dealer in either this or the third movie with a possible bigger role in a later movie then i could see it working.
All if and buts though Gregg, and Singer is the perfect example how much trust we should place in directors. In theory, Superman is actually an easier tale to tell than X-Men, yet he managed to balls it up badly. I really do hope Nolan can maintain the form from Batman Begins, but recent experiences have taught me to be none too hopeful when it comes to comic adaptations (obvious exception being the rumoured production of a three movie Preacher series).
