What's that about Fabregas against us?
Apart from some shocking defence play which from us (which he scored from) we kept him very quiet as I recall?

tbh no player does and to single out Cesc as unstoppable and yet dismiss Ronaldo seams a bit stupid to me.
Likewise as good as Messi is he isnt good each and every game and doesnt play well in every big game Barcelona play.
| obviously no player is going to play well in every big game, that wasnt the point I'm trying to make. Ronaldo has yet to stamp his authority on any of the big games he has played. You reply back and sayed that he destroyed spurs last season - they have a great defence dont they?
I mentioned Fabregas because when arsenal were losing against liverpool with ten minutes to go he popped up and got the equaliser and could have got the winner with the shot that hit the post.
Again I'll say lets see what Ronaldo can do against liverpool on the 16th.

It's impossible to do a best player. Who was a better cricketer: Shane Warne or Brian Charles Lara?
So, a best team.
Schmichel (Kasper, obviosly )
Neville (Phil, obviously )
Ferdiand (Anton, obviosly )
<STRIKE>Carragher</STRIKE> Toure (Yaya)
Cole (Joe)
Cole (Ashley)
Frank Lampard (Jnr)
Keane (Robbie)
Gerard (Houlier)
Beckham (Cruz
Henry (James)
Now, in all seriousness:
P.Shemichel
Gary Neville
Rio/Marcel
Carragher/Terry
Cashley/Heinze
Beckham
Makalele/Viera
Scholes/Fabregas
Giggs
Van Nistelroy/Berkamp/ Shearer
Henry/Zola/Cantona

My problem with Ronaldo is that he never seems to produce his best form in the really big games, look at the Kaka in last years CL final, he didnt bottle and in fact set up the wining goal, Fabregas against utd and Liverpool a few weeks ago, those were massive games and he's still able to make the room for himself to pick out killer balls and get on the end of chances.
Utd have 2 games coming up against Derby and fulham, Ronaldo will probaly be MOM in one if not both of them but I'm 100% certain that when Utd play Liverpool on the 16th he wont get a sniff of the ball.
| Hang on Remember the Arsenal-Man Utd F.A cup final the other year before Ronaldo had world superstar status, he ran the show and tore Arsenal apart. Is an F.A cup final against Arsenal not one of the biggest stages?
The simple fact is good teams like Milan know what threat he poses but have the players like Gattuso who are the very best at what they do to stop him.
Ronaldo like him or not will usually in all games create a match winning chance for someone or score the goals needed to win a game. You laud Kaka because of what he did in the CL last season but have you seen him domestically and how often does he turn it on and Destroy Roma and Inter Milan?
The fact is Ronaldo this year, 2007, has something like a 1 in 2 goal record from the right wing, was the biggest, but not the only, factor in Uniteds title win destroying teams by himself and turns it on in all competitions for club and country.
I'd like you to point out one other player with a rep like Ronaldos who runs the show in every big game they play in. </BLOCKQUOTE>
Fabregas runs the show for arsenal, teams know what he's gonna do but cant handle him. Messi for Barca </BLOCKQUOTE>
Thinking of another game, wasn't the Roma game at Old Trafford last year a "big game?" Sure, they tore them to pieces, but there was a ton of hype leading up and it was for control of the group.
Who did it? Cron and #10. I think if you look back, there are lot more "big games" that you overlooked where Ronaldo was actually amazing. Second half of Everton game also comes to mind last year to clinch, right?

come on, everton are a micky mouse team when you compare to teams you get in the latter stages of the champions league.

| Yep. Against the top teams, Hleb has been our outstanding player in recent games.
Infact, the game everyone remembers from last season (remembers for Cesc) at Old Trafford, he didn't shine above anyone else until setting up Ade's goal.

Yep, that's what great players do though tbf.
Infact I'm so confused by this guy I don't even know what point I'm making anymore.
Roma 7-1 though, Liverpool away 1-0 and Roma away.

dude thats kind of the point I'm trying to make, top players just need a split second to do something pivotal to change the course of a game. ie creating /scoring goals.

| that was in the Q/F, he didnt do it when the chips were down away against Milan in the semis.

And it's not down to single players. Like I said, Hleb has been more effective in that role against the bigger sides.
I was throwing that example out to agree with you partly.
