Most amusing part for me is where he sticks Gerrard on the right wing so he can shoehorn Alonso in ahead of Essien. </BLOCKQUOTE>
Ok a little biased (:
Gerrard better on the right anyway. And don't remember last time I saw Essien take total control of a game. I'd say deep-lying Alonso in that XI would be more effective than Essien, allowing everyone else to get forward.

There's no way Finnan gets in ahead of Sagna.

yeah but I'm not talking about who is the better player, more who has achieved more in the premier league, and ofc Essien's league titles to Gerrard's years of nothingness mean it'd be him anyway tbf |

Not really, as Finnan is in the top 3~ right backs in the Prem.
I'm interested who the 9 are better than him (Bakari a given obv.)

Ronaldo bottles it against big opposition as much as Henry did.
(i.e. he doesn't, but it suits people to say he does when he inevitably fails to win a game single handedly).

Gerrard of course. Wouldnt swap him for anyone in the world.
Torres a close second though.

Best - Cristiano Ronaldo plays with such utter confidence in his ability, and the fact he's got the skills to pay the bills means he's out in front in this category - he's progressed so much since his arrival at Old Trafford, and he can now do everything, plus a little extra.
Underrated - Why on Earth is Nicolas Anelka at Bolton? The guy is a fantastic striker, and he would be welcomed with open arms at a number of top European clubs if it weren't for the baggage. His movement is fantastic, he makes space for himself and others - and give him the ball and watch him stick it in the back of the net. I could argue that he's a similar kind of player to Zlatan Ibrahimovic - and look at what he's doing at Inter.
Overrated - There's no doubting that Steven Gerrard has it in him to be one of the best players in the world on his day, but too often he disappears or spends his time ball-chasing, and looking to play the Hollywood passes. Some might argue against this idea, but if he could be disciplined to fill just one role, and to stick to it, then he could actually be as good as Andy Gray et al would have you think he is. Doing the job for his country every once in a while would help, too - but that could apply to most of the England squad.
Potential - If Ashley Young keeps going the way he has since arriving at Villa, he really could be a fantastic player. He's got pace to burn, and a number of tricks in his locker - and if he can improve his final ball at times, he would be the ultimate winger. Could easily be impressing in the Champions League in a couple of years, and hopefully on the international stage, too.
Best All Time - I'm going to go for someone who many may not think about, and say Dennis Bergkamp. Not only was the man phenomenally talented, but he was the key in Arsenal changing from being a boring, efficient team to a team whose free-flowing football reminded people how the game can be played, and successfully. Bruce Rioch may not have been in charge for long, but signing the non-flying Dutchman was clearly a masterstroke that Wenger could build on.
