well he does if so often against 'poorer' opposition when we're struggling that I couldn't care less tbh, there's so many games last season when we posed no threat at all until he took it upon himself and changed the game. We wouldn't have won the league without him. Maybe against the top teams they could single him out and nullify him, but I can't see them doing that this season with the other acquisitions we've made.
yeah i know, fulham game towards the end of last season springs to mind
indeed, and I don't know if you'd count Spurs as a decent team, but last season it was 0-0 at half time and he came out and within 10-15 mins he totally tour them apart and we were 3-0 up. Not sure I've seen anyone play a more effective 15 minutes of football.

Yeah Ronaldo not the sort of player who will produce a bit of Magic when its needed most.
200+ games for Man Utd and two people want to pick on games against Milan last season to sum up a player. Two games i might add where we won one when Ronaldo both scored and was good and another in which the whole team was abysmal and out played. Yeah Ronaldo should have beaten the European champions by himself, damn he must be crap for not doing so.
read my original post, it was about him not be able to produce the form in the BIG games, those games against milan were your two biggest last season, right or wrong??

Yes they arguably were but as i said above. Why do you believe that aside from his good game in the first leg he should have won the second by himself?

joe i'm baffled by your opinion of Ronaldo. Please tell me your overall opinion of Ronaldo as a player and what brought you to see him as such.
He's a good player, I just think the media and everyone else has gone abit overboard with him. If he has a stormer against barca in the latter stages of the CL come april/may then fair enough i'll hold my hands up and say i was wrong, and he probably will do it as he's still young.
so you'll happily base your opinion of him on one performance?
for me I'd much rather he played well and was effective week in week out, sure he's bound to be less effective against better teams, what with them being better and all, the same would go for all players. If you've got a player who can tear Milan a new arsehole everytime he plays against them but is average the rest of the time, then you've got to question the guys attitude and ultimately his worth. I'd much rather have consistency, and it's not like Ronaldo bottles it in the big games, it's just in the past we've relied on him too much and expected to almost do it single handedly. Mainly because if anyone can, he can.
and fwiw had Gattuso got an early yellow (which he probably should have), then Ronaldo could well have had the freedom to keep us in that game. But unfortunately Gattuso was all over him and effectively took him out of the game.
