I love how all these "computer games are evil" claims from whoever, do very thorough research. They play games for 3 hours so its automatically games fault for slipping standards. I bet kids watch more TV than 3 hours a day but thats ok is it?

Bring back the Final Fantasy text boxes, get rid of the voice-overs and the problem sorts itself.

Well, those other countries will soon be crying when the next zombie apocalypse/nuclear war/alien invasion/world war 2/happens after our kids have learned survival techniques with chain saws shot guns and medi packs.
Take that Switzerland! To the bomb shelter with you, we are going to go save the kid from the flesh eating bacteria!

Hiding in bomb shelters is the standard Swiss war plan. That's why they've built 5000 miles of tunnels or something stupid.
We'll see who looks stupid when the flesh eaters rock up.

Indeed, and it will happen, it will probably be one of those science boffin countries that creates the flesh eating problem as well, then they will come crying to us, because we are doers, not thinkers. Or something similar anyway.
I bet no Swedish kid can figure out that putting together some seemingly random objects will actually be useful in the mass slaughter of brain eating horrors for all their books and sauna-age!

Not unless a smorgasbord turns out to be what defeats the brain eating horrors, no.

Gaming improves creativity, co-ordination, amd imagination in my book, so you will find that kids here are probably more creative and adventurous in later life than the rest of those nations who swot away for hours on end. Fact is, children are children, you can't expect them to make education a full time job and have no fun.
Homework should be abolished, it burns kids out, parents should be more proactive and encourage their kids to pick up a book or whatever for pleasure, not to find out what meaning is behind the piece of the play which turns into iambic pentameter. Literature should be enjoyed and then a child - if it wants to dig deeper, should be able to volunteer for that.
