Morrisons are liable under law for their employees selling alcohol to minors. That doesn't mean they can't sack you for doing it.
What would be the basis for unfair dimissal? </BLOCKQUOTE>
If his colleagues agree that the kid looked at least 20, then there would be grounds for unfair dismissal. </BLOCKQUOTE>
no, it would mean he had equally incompetent colleagues. if there is any doubt on how old someone is id be amazed if the training manual said 'ask marge from dairy what she thinks'. he should have asked them for id as per company policy, he didnt and so rightly got told to pack up his pot noodles and mug. </BLOCKQUOTE>
What Bling said. The policy for asking ID is usually
1. Swipe product
2. Till asks to verify age
3. Check ID (passport or driving licence only)
4. If dont have ID/not satisfied they are over 21 refuse, record on refusal sheet & inform supervisor/manager
Saying oh but i asked Bob who was on the till next to me and he said he looked 20, so i should be ok is stupid, he has no grounds for unfair dismissal at all.
