The only time I've missed work was because I broke my hand and a couple of days when I was ralphing up everywhere. I wouldn't miss a day of work for something like cough/cold/something else rubbish. Bascially if I can sit, type and think then I can work.

whs. They had to order me to stay at home when I was off with cancer, I said Id stay in until my op and then come back the week after.

I had about 9 weeks off and I felt awful for not being at work knowing how hard people had to work to cover my absence.

last time i was off was in March 2006 (iirc) due to me being hospitalised as a result of coughing up a load of blood. (there was a thread on it in here)

Many thanks to all those who lent their support.

If you feel severely under the weather, then it's best to stay off, IMO. Going to work with a really bad cold/flu, etc could be considered as being anti-social due to it being so easily passed on to others.

Working as a carer, I have to be careful if I feel ill. Have had time off this year (a couple of days) for an upset stomach. Wouldn't be good to pass it on to a client. That said, some clients want their session even if they are really ill. Their choice, however.

Morally you should only not go in if you physically can't make it, I have been known to have a few sick days when I just couldn't be arsed, didn't like my job though /poor excuse

in the past I've rarely been off due to illness or injury, and I've worked when perhaps I could've stayed at home.

Now if I couldn't focus properly or had a physical injury that meant I couldn't do my job properly then I'd have to take the day off I guess. Not had any time off yet though since I started in the summer.

depends on your job, if I broke my leg I would still be able to get to work, but I wouldn't be able to do my job. Same for a really bad headache or cold I guess, though I don't really get them so I'd be ok.
