How many times has the format of the CL and the UEFA Cup changed in the last 10 years:
This is the second time.
And for your argument about confusing people. This is neither a big nor a confusing change. Any fans out there that aren't involved enough to know about this change probably won't even know it has happened when the effects come through.
And by the way, although I don't see this being any big changes, I am not saying that they are necessarily good.

Saturdays make much more sense than Wednesday
Not it doesn't actually. CL and UEFA Cup games are played midweek for the whole season so logic would say that the final should too.
And weekends in may are packed with the final rounds of league matches and domestic cups in most countries over here, should these be moved or clash? IMO neither is good.
IMO it's good as it works atm but I don't see it as a big problem if moved.

whs
absolutely ***** idea - can really see this being popular if there's an English side in the final and the FA Cup Final had to be postponed.

Considering the CL final is always on about 10 days after the FA Cup final, I don't see it happening.
Really not that bothered which day it's held on, though I must say I like the way it is, can't see the point in changing it.

Bring back Europacup I. Only champions, knock-out all the way. One loss, you're out. The only real champion of champions is a team that did not lose a single match on the way to lifting the cup.
 Would help to make every game more important and fun to watch, too.

the CL final was 4 days after the FA Cup Final this year, and 2006, and 2005, and 2004... definitely was in 1999 as well so i suspect it has been for at least the last decade.

Sure, it makes sense that European games are played midweek all season so why not have a final midweek but the reason is more viewers, more cash, etc. I dont mind. I am guessing (hoping) that instead of Cup Final Saturday and European Final on the wednesday the CL Final will instead be moved to the following Saturday giving Prem teams a few more days if there. Think other European seasons still ongoing but dont really care about them

And then comes the next WC and some (or all) coaches demands an early season ending again. Or something like it. I just see waay more potential for mess-ups then gains. But then again I really don't care about the US viewers.

should keep the final on a Wed. Moving it for non-Europeans shouldn't really be an argument, I don't expect NBA games to be played during the day so I can watch them, or Australian test matches to be played overnight, so I can watch them during the day. Either watch when it's on or what your own cups.
