Coming to think of it, why do the Faroes have a team, when they are just a Danish province?

The Faroe Islands are an autonomous region of Denmark, not a province.

But then again, there are many other autonomous regions in Europe that aren't members of UEFA, so probably the Faroese football has some historical reason to be in this situation like having a local FA since the beginning or something.

It seems their FA is actually pretty recent. it was founded in 1979.

Okay, I get the point, they won't all be "Champions"
If we take the current ranked top 32 to be the 'best' teams in Europe , 26 of them are from the top 5 leagues.

Is that really what you want to see? It'd be a complete disaster for the rest of Europe. </BLOCKQUOTE>

Absolutely

I'm at least as European as you are, if not more considering that my country was in the EU before yours and took way more innitiative towards making the EU what it is today than yours.

Plus I'm sure you've commented on topics that concern other countries than yours so even if I was American I don't see why I couldn't comment on the CL.

AFAIK it was both things at the same time. If a team isn't the best in its own country, how come can it be the best in its continent? </BLOCKQUOTE>

Can't a nation be World Champion but not European Champion?
It's like saying that only the winner of the continental cups should be allowed in the WC.

Its like having a world championship of table tennis with only 1 person from each country. China would be grossly underrepresented. Completely different from the world of football but you see the point.

Also if Serbia and Montenegro have one entry into UEFA Cup, now they've split into two countries they get 1 each?

Their teams are still as crap as theyve always been yet they get extra entrants due to politics.
You talk like the main reason for the split was to get an extra place in Europe.

Plenty of ridiculous things like that in Europe. Andorra plays the Euro Qualif while Monaco or Vatican don't for instance.

Only the winners of the continental cups should play the Confederations Cup.

The WC is organized by FIFA while Copa América, the Euro Championship, etc... are organized by regional confederations. They are not part of the "WC Pyramid" although the same teams can play both tournaments. It's similar to what happens in Brazilian club football where we have State League pyramids and a national league pyramid. A team can be relegated in the state league but it doesn't change the team's status in the national pyramid.

The WC also has its own Quals, so the regional comps are irrelevant here.

And anyway, I was referring to the original idea of the competition called "European Champions Cup".
