I agree with you. Sadly, I suspect the players wouldn't. I can see that overpaid bunch of primadonnas not taking orders from someone whose playing career peaked with Palarse and Bristol City or whoever.
Good coach though, even though he did bomb at Blackburn.

Arguable re playing career.
Been a factor in some of the other jobs Hodgson has taken on in the past though, hence I mentioned it.
how is it arguable, Ferguson probably had a higher profile career now I think about it, so get rid of him, but the rest didn't.
The point was players don't consider manager's playing careers when deciding whether to listen to them or not, unless say you're Roy Keane, or Bryan Robson, or Johann Cruyff, but even then after a couple of weeks a player will start judging them on their managerial abilities rather than their playing abilities.
