teams of 5 with a davis cup tennis formula. 4 singles games - one doubles. All 5 have to be involved in at least once....
between 1 and 3 points available per 'rubber' depending on the size of the victory.

| And captains are not allowed to reveal their starting order until requested. That way, one captain doesn't have an advantage of knowing he can pick his weakest player against, say, Nelly and get an win still. Does that make sense? Think Ryder Cup singles day.
Can I run it this time? No intention of participating and have time over the next 3-4 weeks to organise and administer it.

how about this....
names put forward as usual, normally get 100 odd.
Captains picked for 16 teams
Captains pick 3 members (mutual agreement generally, but with a random draw to fill in blanks).
Some form of reverse BOTU to find 16 worst users out of all of the others to be added into each group.
5 rounds of team knock out 16>8>4>2>winning team

Use this thread for format/ideas then as well as coming up with dates.
What's the normal time-frame for this sort of thing?

not much more than a couple of days per round...maybe 3 days for sign-ups...especially if you have a system that allows latecomers to get a 2nd chance.
You could organise it so the winning 5 are automatically into the final, with a system to get 3 others into it, and then have a STV system to find the eventual winner.

oh, and when sorting out the teams captains should be allowed to swap users with each other.
So I could agree with BBB that he'll be in my team, but in the end I swap him for AJ who was with Daaaaave's team.

| Like Dave would agree to that swap!
Well, let the ideas be thrashed out for the weekend and then I will open the sign-up thread on Tuesday or Wednesday evening. This will then close Saturday evening and the first round of matches open on Monday 10th?
