Had toothache about a month ago, took codeine/paracemtamol every 4 hours and ibuprofen half way between. worked great.

Really? - just for a filling?

Do you have to pay? Otherwise I don't understand why anyone pays for non-cosmetic dental treatment.

My old dentist turned private when I was away at university - unfortunately the only remaining nhs dentist in the area had a waiting list of ~5,000 people so I didn't get to see a dentist for nearly 5 years!
I eventually took my heavily tea-stained teeth and layers of scale 35 miles to a next-day appointment at the nearest 'hospital dental surgery' (A&E equivalent I think) where I was told: "Yeah they're in a pretty bad state, you need to enrol with a dentist. Oh by the waay your wisdom tooth is decaying."

wtf! They didn't do a thing!

If its a really bad toothache and you can't wait till the next day or over the weekend, they will do it. I'm not sure if you get charged or not.

She works there at weekends as well as working at a normal dentists during the week. Apparently the majority of people coming in have been in fights etc. This is Croydon though. :thdn:

I think you can go to A&E with tootache, if she's really bad then there's no harm. Just make sure you don't sit next to anyone with the flu else she'll have that too.

Where my sister works is known as Croydent. Where nominated dentists and dental nurses take it in rotation to work there. If you do a google you may find there is a similar service in your town. You can also phone ahead rather than just turn up.
