Preview from Barca's website Quote:
Barça and Espanyol are preparing to meet in what promises to be one of the most attractive derby encounters in recent years on Saturday evening as both sides are sitting proudly in the Champions League places.
Expectations are high ahead of the game in Montjuïc as the Blaugrana will be looking for all three points to continue their pursuit of top place and Real Madrid, while Espanyol have the chance to leapfrog Frank Rijkaard's side. The hosts have had an incredible run of form and are currently fourth in the table, just one place and two points behind their Blaugrana.
Ten homegrown players
Barça go into the game with more young players set to be involved than usual as Samuel Eto'o, Deco, Thiery Henry, Giovani Dos Santos, Sylvinho, EdmÃ*lson and Oleguer are all unavailable. As a result of so many absentees from action, Rijkaard has looked to the youth ranks and called up Marc Crosas, Alberto BotÃ*a and VÃ*ctor Sánchez to bolster his squad . The three additions mean that Barcelona will have ten players in their ranks that have come through the youth team set-up.
Strong in Lyon
Unbeatable in Camp Nou, the Blaugrana now have the chance to improve their inconsistent away form, which has caused great debate this term. Despite that, there is great optimism among the visitors after they produced a powerful display on Tuesday night in Lyon to clinch qualification for the next round of the Champions League and after starting on the bench in that game, it remains to be seen if Ronaldinho will be back in the starting line-up against Espanyol.
Espanyol in great form
Espanyol play host to Barça in a strong run of form as the Blanc i Blau have not tasted defeat in their last nine games. After an indifferent start to the term, little-by-little Ernesto Valverde's side have chalked up some big wins and are now sitting in the Champions League places at the top end of the table. Iván De la Peña will not be available to face the Blaugrana as he has a muscle injury.
