Last time i looked at a Crysis review online there were an awful lot of 5 and 6 ratings from the public punctuated by 9 and 10 ratings from the fanboys.
| when do fanboys stop beginning part of the public? surely their ratings as valid as the 5's and 6's?
Must point out I've never played Crysis.

That's me never going on gamespot again now. Used to have a read irregularly, but they clearly don't do what they should be.

Hardly, considering the fanboys would give 9/10 to a blank DVD in a * insert title here * case.

Because it's the fanboys reviewing for magazines and getting 8800gt's for reviewing it ?

Crysis netted me a 8800 GT. A few particularly good reviews, especially of top titles may also result in a publisher sending you a special "thank you" parcel, which normally contains exclusive merchandise. Prime example was the thank you parcel for Halo 3 which contained the £90 collectors edition of the game in some helmet, and a bunch of Halo 3 collectors stuff worth around £300, probably more in a while once the fanboys get desperate to buy it.
Worst I've ever had is EA request someone else review their games on PC format due to my "bias views being based solely upon business practices instead of the software itself", which was utter rot anyway. Not my fault FIFA and NHL are awful on PC this year.
| £70, not £90.

My review was basically "it's pretty but it plays just like every other FPS out there. Offers little new. Hardly the groundbreaking game EA have spent a year building up." That's the best I've given them all year. NHL and FIFA got slated for being nothing more than data updates with me urging no-one to buy them, while MMO Hellgate:London was just bile-fueled hatred, with bits about how EA were ruining the gaming market with ideas such as this. Hardly hoping for a good review of Crysis then, given my past entries. The card was sent so that I could crank the graphics up, hoping the "WOW" factor of DX10 rendered trees would sway me.
| Frankly, anyone who thinks that shouldn't be allowed to write reviews tbh. What utter tosh. Crysis clearly one of the best games this year.

"plays like every other FPS". What is that supposed to mean? FPS is a genre. This game is part of that genre.
"Offers little new"..
Except for the nano suit. Which you can choose to go in blazing with amour protection, cloak and sneak around.
Except for the customisable weapons. You can switch between various different upgrades, all of which can give you different ways to fight.
Except for putting vehicle levels into the game. Except for giving the player a zero-g experience.
Except for giving the player multiple ways to approach the various obstacles. You can snipe the people to death, infiltrate and silently take down, ram a truck through the front gate, go guns blazing or a combination of them all.
"Hardly the groundbreaking game etc".
I think the 92 metacritic rating disagrees with you.
| dont talk ********, just using one game i can demonstrate that most of the things you've described as "being new" are not really, in COD4 you control vehicles as well as the main character, the weapons are customisable in multiplayer, as well as being able to add perks to customize yourself, you can sneak around in the darkness using your nightvision or go in all guns blazing or snipe the enemy from a distance, none of what you've said sounds particularly inspiring.

I think that's still bribery.
