I think a lot of people are saying Kaka and Messi for the exact same reason you arent.
While i am a Manchester United fan i believe Ronaldo to be the only one of the three to have been brilliant for the whole year and on all levels. League, CL and international.
Sadly these things are won on the back of winning one competition, the World Cup in World Cup year and this one will be won on the back of CL. </BLOCKQUOTE>
I remember people saying that Ronaldo should win this award in March, the THIRD month of the year, and I told people to wait for biggest matches than a Man U-Bolton game nobody cares. You may not believe it but a CL semi-final has more viewers/is more important than a game against Bolton/Empoli at home.
Overall, Cristiano Ronaldo had a better season (
including 2006), I agree with you, but it’s not a season award or an award given on stats/motms.
You are suggesting that people are saying Kaká because they haven’t seen him and in your second paragraph you are saying that you believe that Ronaldo... well to me that means that you are biased or haven’t seen him for Portugal this season because he has been far from brilliant or can’t accept the fact that he has had a quiet start for United this season (he even looks slower than last season, which is normal after a tough season).
It was a two-horse race won by Kaká in the CL semis and I think he fully deserves this award. Messi deserves the third place for his brilliancy. This will the final result of both awards and I can only agree with them (journalists and captains/nat coaches), for once.
