most of the players then would walk in to the scotland team just now and even more likely if you made them younger! Gordon's good Goram was great miller or Mcoist ? caldwell or calderwood!

hmm i hoping that mcleish does a good job because im not convinced he has what it takes and i dont think he has enough experience. Graham would hve been a good appointment in my opinion.

Well now that McLeish has been officially confirmed it will be interesting to see his squad selections.

Is he going to call up the likes of Steven Smith who he knows well from his time at Rangers or even some of the other Scottish players at Rangers who have been on the international fringes like Chris Burke and to a certain extend Kris Boyd.

Will he dump Kenny Miller for the third time in his career after getting rid of him at both Hibernian and Rangers?

Will he rely on the 'old guard' and call up some of the more experienced players like David Weir or Christian Dailly or possibly try out some of the younger players like McManus at Celtic? Maybe this will be the time for the much sought after "twins" at Hibs. Step forward Kevin Thomson and Scott Brown.

Will Whittaker at Hibs make the right back slot his own or will it go to Robbie Neilson or will Eck surprise us all and play Alan Hutton there? Maybe he'll go for an all "Rangers" line up and start with this...

McGregor
Hutton
Smith
Webster
Weir
Ferguson
Rae
Burke
Adam
Boyd
Novo

Yes, will Big Eck be able to convince "wee Nacho" to sever all ties with his Spanish roots and become an honourary Scotsman and play for his adopted country?

Hmm...

No real surprises in McLeish's first Scotland squad for a 'gathering' next week. I guess McGregor getting called up is probably the biggest.

Goalkeepers
Neil Alexander (Cardiff City)
Paul Gallacher (Norwich City)
Craig Gordon (Heart of Midlothian)
Allan McGregor (Rangers)

Defenders

Graham Alexander (Preston North End)
Russell Anderson (Aberdeen)
Gary Caldwell (Celtic)
Steven Caldwell (Sunderland)
Christian Dailly (West Ham United)
Stephen McManus (Celtic)
Kevin McNaughton (Cardiff City)
Graeme Murty (Reading)
Gary Naysmith (Everton)
Robbie Neilson (Heart of Midlothian)
Steven Pressley (Celtic)
Andy Webster (Wigan Athletic/Rangers)
David Weir (Rangers)

Midfield

Barry Ferguson (Rangers)
Darren Fletcher (Manchester United)
Paul Hartley (Heart of Midlothian)
Richard Hughes (Portsmouth)
Lee McCulloch (Wigan Athletic)
Ian Murray (Rangers)
Nigel Quashie (West Ham United)
Scott Severin (Aberdeen)
Gary Teale (Derby County)

Forwards

Kris Boyd (Rangers)
James McFadden (Everton)
Kenny Miller (Celtic)
Steven Thompson (Cardiff City)

Steven Thompson ?

Richard Hughes interesting.

I still feel Whittaker, Broon, Wilson, Maloney, Burke and Kevin Thompson should be inculuded.

Naismith and the likes of Gow should be considered also.
