The first reviews are out for AC. It is not great reading as there is talk of erratic AI, dodgy framerates on both consoles(worse on the ps3 with tearing), repetitive missions, lack of fun etc.

There is also some good bits like a few reviewers saying the sequel would be great due to the potential of it.

All in all no longer considered a game of the year contender.

It was so fishy when the only member of the development team we ever got to see was the photogenic, easy on the eye jade "would love to give her one" Raymond.

We were being mesmerised by her widemouthed smile and never questioned the lack of a demo or the bad E3 2007 showing.

I had a feeling. The showing at E3 was dismal, lots of little bugs, cut corners and lousy fighting yet it got good notices because the press/internets were too busy tugging one off over the graphics to pay attention to the things that count. A shame, as originally I was quite interested in this, the setting is magnificent and the idea of a completely free-roaming assass-sim (see what I did there?) sounds too good to be true. Sadly, it still does.

Dont get too disheartened, there are still some very good reviews out there and apart from the odd couple, they average out to about 9/10

No framerate issues on the PC AI not a problem on PC

It's tremendously fun, and anyone complaining about the repetitiveness deserves to have their genitals run down an acid soaked cheese grater. "All you do gather information and kill people" was one complaint. It's an assassination game set in the middle ages ffs. Downloading mission specs to your PDA a bit difficult. PES could be labeled as repetitive, all you do is run around a football pitch trying to score goals. Gears of War? It's almost always just shooting aliens. It also boasts one of the finest control systems ever, one of those rare things in games where, after using it, you simply wonder why this is the first time someone has thought of this.

Game will undoubtedly suffer due to the heavy release schedule, sandwiched between COD, Mass Effect, Crysis and a few choice others but it's right up there with the best this year.

The game looks excellent. I still have much faith in it because I know it's a game I'll love. It's pretty easy to tell from the videos/information if you'll enjoy it or not.

For me, I still can't wait for Thursday/Friday.
