Default Cut and Paste problems

Okay here is the starting text(3 laters total)

Now I want to put all of the text onto a new picture(just text, not the black background, you know what I mean).

But When I try to, I can only select one layer at a time, IE, the gold, the diamonds, etc.

and when i try to line them up on the picture, it isn't successful.

What should I do? Thanks!

Hi Levi-J.Lo,

You have a couple of options. Most simply would be to drag each of the two layers, one at a time to the new image and hold down the shift key prior to dropping them. They should line up. Then link them together in your layers palette and they will move around in tandem. Move the bottom layer first so the stacking order in the new image is the same as the original.

A second approach: make one of the two layers which you wish to move active, link the two and use Control E (Command E on a Mac) to merge the linked layers. That will allow you to drag the merged layer to the new image. You will lose your ability to edit the text on the new image, though. If you wanted to retain the capacity to edit the text/diamond layers on your original work, just reverse the merge linked layer in the history palette after you drag the merged layer.

A third approach would be to add an empty top layer to your original 3 layer image and make it the active layer. Make the black layer invisible and use the keyboard command Control Alt Shift E (Command Option Shift E on a Mac) to Stamp the visible layers on the empty. You now have a layer to drag onto the other image and still have the original layers for future editing.
