Was about to post bitching about the battery life but someone has beat me too it. Went away for the weekend last week, full charge on the friday afternoon and it was dead on the sunday morning, just when I needed the bloody thing to arrange a lift.

Piece of ****.

Why don't you take it to a Nokia Service Centre and they will send it away to get it sorted out?

e2save
Cool... still doesn't answer my question though, as I have to move away from O2 due to network coverage issues...

Quote:
I'm going to get one of these on Saturday. My contract is up with O2 and, as I can't get decent reception in my flat with them, I'm going to move providers.

My work phone (BlackBerry) is on Vodafone, and I seem to get a decent enough signal on that in the flat - but from what I understand people from different providers have different experiences with the N95 (e.g. apparantly Orange is an absolute bug filled nightmare!).

Anyone here got an N95 on Vodafone? - Experiences?
I've heard that you can use some hack thing to change the settings of the phone if the firmware is locked by the company (I know Vodafone do this). See the quote from the bloke below (taken from a review site).

Quote:
First thing you must do with this phone is update the software to the latest version. If the phone is branded use the nss hack to change the product code to euro1 0536062 and update using the nokia firmware updator - this also puts back any features certain operators in the UK have chosen to remove (but note this does not remove any simlock) The phone is then supurb. Battery life is not the best for a phone but is better than the pda it replaces. All the features work well.
Anyone done anything like this? </BLOCKQUOTE>

Shameless uppage for the night crew

I need to be 100% sure before I get one of these. Vodafone really is the only option as well I think. </BLOCKQUOTE>

spoke to orange - they agree that not being able to use phone correctly always (they've not approved the new patch to fix the microphone pick up), means they will collect and update for me (i think that's what they've offered).

anyway - new patch also improves battery life (although think mine's fine for that after a few proper charge/conditions). patch apparently also improves the camera speed.

This phone is free on a 12 month contract with Vodafone at mobilephonesdoirect.co.uk for £5 a month.

Wicked deal.

How good is the music player and ringtone on this phone? And how long does it last when just used as a music player?

I'm thinking of buying this and getting an extra charger for the car for when I use GPS and another charger at work.

Could anybody please help me with the following query.

I got this fone yesterday and i;m a bit concerned. When i press a button to go on the menu it doesn't come up instantly it takes a second ot two. also when i slide the cover down it doesn't lock instantly like my last fone did. this also takes a second ot 2. and last when i press to go on the menu the top of my wallpaper sort of flickers quickly before showing the menu. does anybody else have this problem?

The fone was quite expensive so im a bit worried.

Thanks

It does have a pause between doing things, if I open the lens cover on mine it takes an age for the camera software to load, same problem if I slide the slider into media mode. As for the phone lock, on mine it doesnt say the "Phone locked" message for about a second, but it still is (pressing the buttons does nothing).

I also have the wallpaper flickering problem. There is a new firmware out (Which your provider should be able to install for you in their shop, or you can do it through the Nokia software) which supposedly fixes a ton of stuff on the phone, that might be worth a shot. I haven't tried it myself, I've lost the cable.
