Surely there is a problem with that schedule playing football twice a week as it is easy to pick up a knock and put you out for a while.

I've always played a lot of football and found that apart from maybe 2 games a week and 1 training session, I can't do a lot else as my legs have taken a bit of a battering.

I'm not going to stop football on the basis that I might pick up a knock. Enjoy it far too much. They are only for an hour, and not full size pitches so I'd be surprised, and dissappointed, if my body couldn't hack that training schedule. The distance of the runs might be an issue, but actually physically being able to run on those days shouldn't be a problem.

Guess we'll see.

My experience of playing football along with running hasn't been too bad. In the 18 months that I did both (haven't kicked a ball in 12 months now!) I occasionally picked up a knock that stopped me running for a couple of days, but nothing more serious than that.

That said, I dropped the football close to major races to make sure I didn't pick up a knock. Guess it depends on how rough the games you play are and how injury prone you tend to be.

yeah, I'll drop it the week before this 10k etc, just as a general rule I'm hoping I can do both. Monday night's aren't rough at all tbh, and the only problem I've had this far was a bit of stiffness in the legs on the Tuesday, but that has cleared up week by week.

yeah, I've played with players who did marathons and they would stop the football 6 weeks or so before the race and concentrate more on mileage.

So my first ever 10k tonight. Clocked it at 56:34, which I'm ecstatic with tbh. Stopped once, but that was only because I needed a p!ss

No chaffing, thankfully, but for some reason my shoe was rubbing on the left foot, under the arch. Already have a blister coming up

Checked the shoe out and there is nothing there to indicate why it's rubbing. I'm using some specialist Nike running socks (or so the guy in the running shop told me), so I assume it's not them causing the problem

I've got myself a new running partner, we'll alternate between treadmill/exercise bike, going to start training in December.

Can send over the running schedule to you dude
