Probably FAO: Mika etc but he's not on MSN so thought I'd throw this one open to everyone.

I'm looking for a racing game, PC or PS2 really. I like F1, but wouldn't mind a few different styles of racing, and also I want a game where if you crash, you don't just hit some invisible barrier, or like GT where it was possible to basically go round the track without turning.

Oh and is PGR4 any good for the 360? Does it meet these criteria? I am probably getting a 360 around Christmas and that would be a major consideration.

rfactor or the latest version of Toca Race Driver are your best bets for varied racing series.

No idea what the crash damage modules of those games are, although it was reasonable in TRD2.

Burnout for the PS2.

PGR4 is class. If you crash you will hurt, but it isn't super punishing.

WRC: Evolved - although not racing there are no invisible barriers.

Or Burnout Revenge.

Both of the above are for PS2.

TOCA Race Driver 3 is good for PS2, especially if you're looking for different types of racing. It has Touring Cars, Truck Racing, F1, Indycar, Oval Racing, Rally, etc. F1 also isn't bad. If you're looking for a real simlator though Gran Turismo 4 is the best imo.

You'd need a steering wheel to be any good online though.

Gran Turismo 4 is where it's at really, I know it doesn't have damage (GT5 will) but it's dar and away the best driving game available.

At the moment I can't put FORZA down. It's great.

The most neglected racers in history are the GTR series on the PC - they are basically the height of realism and utterly amazing.

I keep meaning to get into rFactor which is meant to me jaw-dropping, but can never manage it. Has an F1 mod if you have a desperate need for an F1 game.
