Isn't that a bit stupid making it so that having minor skills that you use the most is more effective than having them as majors?

It is. Back In Morrowind it used to be that minor skills would works towards a multiplier, but only up to a point... or maybe they counted as 0.25 instead of 0.5
anyway it was different.

major skills do increase faster though.

Not me, for some reason I find it very hard to play evil characters in RPGs. So won't be an assassin till my second play through. My character's a kleptomaniac though. I find myself carrying loads of small crap, and some heavier weapons and armor, having not paid for them.

I tried going Rocky on wolves and boars... felt bad for them so took to sneaking up on them, beating them to near death and running away. They usually catch up to me so I have to kill them anyway

Heh I'm always the same I can never play the bad guy, although I am pretty tempted in this.

After a couple of tweaks to the .ini and updating my drivers the game seems to be running better now and I am really getting into it. Thing is after playing for about an hour I keep getting a really bad headache which I never normally get with other games/general computer use

strangely enough, it doesn't happen to me with Oblivion even though it's happened with other games.
This is due to the field of view used here, it's 75 degrees like in Half Life 2, where industry standard is usually 90 degrees. Open up the console with the tilde key (left of the '1' key) and type "FOV 90" (without quotes) and your headaches should be gone :thup:

Thaks, I'll give that a try, you'll be a legend if that works

How do I get my alteration and alchemy skills up? I was trying to mix some potions to get my alchemy up but had no idea what were good ingredients to mix.

I have to send my p.c back to the company I bought it from on monday to fix a usb problem so I will have at least a week of not playing Oblivion, it's gonna be hard but at least I can get in some big sessions over the weekend.
