Any other bands you'd recommend in a vague Biffy Clyro/Frank Turner/Mars Volta direction? (Basically stuff that isn't punk/ska/hardcore)
Hell Is For Heroes, Idlewild are definitely two, maybe Hundred Reasons as well - if it's Biffy you are talking about

I already like HIFH and bits of Idlewild and HR, any more obscure suggestions?

and how can I forget Converge.
was going to mention them if you like the hardcore sort of stuff
others I recommend would be Comeback Kid and This Is Hell. both of them have the screaming/gang vocals, and both have some class material, CBK have 3 albums, This Is Hell have one full length album and an EP with a forthcoming album out this year

YAS.
Im going to take this from a hardcore view since there's lack of it so far.
First off, Bridge Nine Records, possibly the finest record label in the whole entire world for punk and hardcore.
If youre interested or dont know the label, take a look here at some of the best bands ever. Bridge Nine Bands
Gallows are not the best hardcore band around the UK right now, just the coolest.most mainstream.
Im going to compile a little list of UK Hardcore bands in a minute.

At The Drive-In anyone? Possibly my favourite band of all time, apart from Biffy.
I can also recommend the mighty Botch if you like the heavier side of things

At The Drive-In are indeed legendary, Relationship Command is one hell of an album with One Armed Scissor being one of my all time favourites.

Definitely got some of the biggest Hardcore names on there with the likes of Terror, Champion and SOIA.
Have Heart are good from what I've heard.
Cheers for the link though, will check out some of the others
