Converge related:
J Bannon should be releasing his sol(ish) album "Wear Your Wounds" near the start of the year.
If you're into The Explosion or Piebald, then listen to some stuff the huguenots did in the past. It features members of The Explosion, Piebald and Kurt from Converge. Their discography should be getting a re-release sometime soon.
...and my mind has gone blank, probably think of a million and one things as soon as I press that post now.

Another thing I've been listening to a lot recently is old NUFAN. Don't Miss the Train especially...If you're a new fan I think the best of has a pretty good tracklisting.

Chuck Ragan (Hot Water Music) released his solo album, something I didn't think was actually happening to I saw it on the Banquet Records site. Chuck does a Roddy, but just better.
Should be hectic for him, The Draft are still going, he's got his solo stuff, Hot Water Music are set to play a few gigs and release a "rarities and b sides" cd next year.
ALSO, this for the peeps looking for their new Set Your Goals band fix, Living With Lions
P.S. If you like your Kid Dynamite, actually even if you don't, listen to Deny Everything
They played in the UK this year with the Don Ramos Players and the "rise against...but girls" Hearts Under Fire.
To be continued...

Seriously though - magazines? websites? friends? other? If so, which? Minus the friends part, that'd be weird...I mean I've heard of all of those bands apart from Living With Lions, but I have a feeling you will have done 6 months before me. Would be nice at some point to get there before anyone else.

Me? I've never really seen myself the epicenter or anything.
Well, my close good friends refer to me as the "music man" sometimes because i'm pretty anal about trying to find everything out about bands/genres etc. I'm not always like that in the real world.
I don't read many magazines anymore. I check loads of music related sites, including Drowned In Sound, online fanzines, record labels etc.
I still believe in email mailing lists.
I have a few friends who do fanzines, work/own small record labels (small as in have a couple of small/unknown bands signed or release a cd or two for other bands).
Record websites, such as Banquet.
Word of mouth, friends or randoms.
I either know friends (and acquaintances) in bands who, whenever they play with other bands ive never heard of, I just feel I need to know everything.
I sometimes go to gigs by myself and end up talking to the promoter, if I don't already know them, and just end up chatting abouts bands etc.
That makes me sound like some kind of geek, really i'm not. Sometimes I get a bit dumbstruck in person.
Plus Tony Robertson often makes me feel like ive got my finger wide of the pulse.

I'm also considering (well I have been for a while) to completely geek out and set up a music related site with all the trimmings.
News, Reviews, Gigs and tours, Live reviews and all that jazz with the help of friends and other people dotted around Earth.
