Anyone heading to the Rebellion festival in Blackpool in a couple of weeks? Tons of real old school Punk bands on. I am heading up there for the Friday night partly as I haven't seen the Damned in years and never seen Blood or Whiskey yet, and partly because how the hell can you resist a Punk bill that somehow manages to shoehorn Slade and Chas & Dave into 3rd and 4th places on the billing?

Departures at least sound a bit like the two main bands, By My Hands don't though
Should all support bands sound like the touring bands?
Would be a bit boring.
Today I am mostly listening to Orchards, as they sound like Converge/Botch etc etc etc. Ouuuh, feel the magic. </BLOCKQUOTE>
yeah different types of bands make it interesting.
I can think of a couple that were pretty varied.
The Starting Line with 'From Autum To Ashes'
and The Ataris supported by Cursive, The Rocket Summer and Planes mistaken for Stars.
Anyway i'm hopefuly going to the set Your Goals gig in Kingston

'Reno's Cobra Skulls play a brand of leftist punk that blends crust, folk, rockabilly, skate-punk, and who knows what else. Some say they sound like The Clash, some say The Living End, some say Against Me!. Because of their varied influences, Cobra Skulls deliver a record so dynamic that everyone's ears will perk up. And just when you think they've run outta tricks, they bust out with songs in Spanish... aye carumba!'

I don't like the new Against Me! album. It's just not that good.
Yeah I can understand that. I didn't really like it at first. However now I love it, there are 5 excellent songs (New Wave, Up the Cuts, Thrash Unreal, White People For Peace, Born on the Radio Waves) and the rest are okay. Don't like Animal at all though.
THe album is also short enough so that it flies by and doesn't suffer from the boredom of SFAFC due to its length.
Thrash Unreal is my favourite song on the album, and it could easily fit onto any previous AM! albums. In fact there are 3-4 that could go on others, so they haven't totally changed their sound.
Tbf I love Tom's voice, so was bound to like it eventually.

Music this year just hasn't grabbed me like previous years. Quite sad, considering Paramore, Bad Religion, Against Me! and Sum 41 have released new ones this year.

This year has been much better than last year for me. Against Me! The Shins, Of Montreal, Cobra Skulls, and the Gaslight Anthem have all been excellent.
Last year was disappointing, Rise Against was awful, the new Nofx was poor and I nothing else really stands out. SYG was my highlight of the year and tbf that is stupidly awesome.
On the other hand hip hop was so much better last year. King>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>TI vs. TIP.
