Evening all.
Can't remember seeing a decent punk thread on here before so good effort to whoever started it!
I'm 25 now and got into punk around 10 years ago which makes me feel really old! I still love punk music but I don't find I'm getting into that many new bands these days. My favourite sort of punk is the 90's stuff.
I really love the following, some of younger folks on here (if any) might want to check some of these out if you've just sort of missed them-
Dead Kennedys - One of THE very very best bands
imo
NOFX - Lost interest since War on Errorism, their last good cd although they have produced alot of outstanding stuff.
Screeching Weasel - Love them!!
New Bomb Turks - Punk rock and roll!
The Slackers - Fantastic ska band - recommend Wasted Days cd.
Osker - Highly underated band on put out 2 albums, first is killer!
Riverdales - Ramones-esque band!
Rancid - Lost interest since 90's, maybe gone for too long. First 3/4 albums outstanding. Tim Armstrong is a ledgend.
Op Ivy - Raw ska/punk again for those who haven't heard them this is Rancid in the making!
I also love punk comps my very favourites-
Punk O Rama III and IV - Love every track on them, my soundtrack ten years ago!!
Life in Fat Lane - Awesome quality songs, why dont FAT make them like this?
Give Em The Boot II - Best ska/punk/reggae comp there is!
Asian Man Comp - Think it's the second one! Good bands you never hear off anymore other than Alkaline Trio!
I used to really love ska/punk but find it a bit 'overdone' these days. I do like listening to trad stuff, I really recommend the Slackers to anyone interested in hearing some more mature/traditional sound ska. I'm also not too fussed on UK bands these days, they often just seem to be trying to be too American if that makes sense. I think they should just try and be themselves.
Hope I havent bored anyone!
