We started off quite brightly today didnt we?
The ball wasnt out when O'Neil knocked it across and Downing was so close to knocking it in. Since im on about O'Neil...what a player, works and works and works. Isnt the most gifted lad we know that already but he grafts and isnt all that bad a player.
Downing came in and out of the game today, wasnt his best day but, we need more from him should we get ourselves out of trouble.
So who was at fault for the goal? IMHO it was Young if he hadnt tried to dribbile it out of the half then it wouldnt have happened, soon as he lost the ball BEnt went across and Riggott was the wrong way. By the time he got round right it was in the net.
But...that aside WOW what a way to make up for it. BELTER!
Notice the fans in the north showing there displeasure then we score and they all do the usual, stand, arms stretched and sing like they love the club. Fact is the north stand should be burned down with 90% of the people still in it. They are among the most hypercritical at the club. Boo the keeper, boo the team, score love the team, sing, shout, then boo the keeper again and the final whistle...boo again.

Schwarzer doesnt seem in it for me, his kicking was an abortion and he just seemed to do nothing but slow the game down. Couple of great catches, but those were soon forgotten when he doesnt come off his line to collect when Riggot's holding off the Spurts Army allowing him to get it.
Also had a flapper moment punching instead of catching late on.

At fault in my eyes for their goal, dont dribble it out, kick it clear. But all is fogotten when you go and belt the ball that hard, that precise that brilliantly. Up and down all game didnt have a bad one.
6 Bombscare Taylor
We need to either rest the lad, or give him some competition for his place because he has got rather complacent ATM.
Passing isnt great and isnt getting as much down past Downing as we are used to, i'll put it down to his lack of years but the lack of concentration is lkilling us. You just know somewhere, sometime he will drop a stinker and allow the oppo to attack at the worst time.

Had a pretty good game considering he was up against 2 forwards who are not known for their physical abilities. Thought he might struggle with the pace of Bent and Defoe but he coped well. And then went head to head with Berby and didnt give him too many oppertunities either.
7 Maggot
Wheres the lads confidence gone? He has gone from next club captain, looks like England class and will shoulder the burden when the gate retires. To a turtle neck who is afraid of his own shadow. Needs a confidence builder and having a season like we are i dont see when he will get one!
6 Locals call him Downingsyndrome 
Wasnt all that bad, even made a lunge tackle on the hobbitt. Needs some help because he cant set up EVERY goal we score. Still our best outlet and still hated by the locals.

He gets everywhere, up peoples shirts, in their shorts, anywhere that annoys people. Wasout most workman like player today and out most creative also.
Dont think about moving him into the middle he is the best thing we have at right midfield.
7 MOTM Super Lee Cattermole
When was the last time you nailed someone? Dont stop being a dirty ****, it gets the fans going. Actually, he has added a lot of composure to his game by not going about twating everyone like he used to. Didnt do bad, workman like in peformance and covered the back 4 well.
